Paul Berthon (1872-1908) is listed as a great French Art Nouveau artist, known, much like his contemporary Alphonse Mucha, for his posters. This metallic golden chromolithograph, ‘Sa Tres Gracieuse Majeste la Reine Wilhelmine’ depicts Queen Wilhelmina with the dutch landscape, flat land and windmills, in the background and regional tulips in the foreground. Queen Wilhelmina reigned from 1890-1948 and is remembered for her role in World War II.
