Camrose & Kross Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Enamel Standing Cruciform Necklace
Information about the original necklace: It was made in Venice between 1770 and 1800 and owned by a Venetian sea captain and was given as a gift to JBK from the Italian government. It was later sold at the famous Sotheby's auction for $26,450 and was one of the select few of Jackie's crosses that made it to the auction block. The cross is decorated with stylized floral and scroll motifs in blue, green, yellow, red and white champleve' enamel against a black enamel ground. Jackie collected crosses and acquired over 300 of them. She was very dedicated to her religion. As a public official living in the White House, she was not allowed to wear her crosses, but she did insist that her daughter Caroline wear a cross every day.
